Fuel distribution from the Kolonnawa and Muthurajawela refineries, have been suspended as a trade union action in protest against Petroleum Special Provisions Act Amendment, being taken up in Parliament today (18), the Employees’ Unions said.
Addressing the media the a union leader said, the bill which is expected to pave the way for the liberalization of the petroleum industry, is scheduled to be debated in Parliament today.
Therefore, the trade unions have decided to refrain from all services, including fuel distribution, and applying for medical leave.
The fuel tanker proceeded to load fuel from stores have been turned back with empty due the situation sources said.
