Car Used in Akuregoda Double Murder Found in Galle

The Nugegoda Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau has managed to locate the car suspected of being used by shooters to kill a lawyer and his wife in Akuregoda, Thalangama, while it was on a by-road in Kuttiyawatta, Agaliya, Galle.

The bureau said that the car was still on fire when it was found.

Based on information received that the car in which lawyer Buddhika Mallawarachchi and his wife were allegedly killed had been abandoned in the Galle Agaliya area, the police had gone to the scene and officers had seen the car on fire.

The police suspect that this murder was carried out by organized criminals named Jayalath Silva alias Karandeniye Sudda, who is hiding abroad.

The police had previously stated that the lawyer in question had previously appeared for the case of Karandeniya Sudda and then for the case of his main rival, a criminal named “Loku Patty”, and accordingly, it is suspected that this murder was carried out by the Sudda’s side on the suspicion that Karandeniya had given information about Karandeniya to Loku Patty.

The Nugegoda Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau is conducting further investigations into the incident.
