Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who arrived in Sri Lanka early this morning (12), departed the island later in the afternoon.
Wang Yi arrived in Sri Lanka while travelling from South Africa to China. He, along with 17 senior officials of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, arrived at around 1.05 a.m. on a special flight operated by China’s Beijing Airlines.
Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong and Director General of East Asia and Oceania at the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Savitri Panabokke, were present at the Katunayake International Airport to welcome the Chinese Foreign Minister.
During his brief visit, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath in Colombo today.
