Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today (22) revealed in Parliament that three students from a leading Colombo school were allegedly subjected to serious sexual abuse by the school’s chief security officer earlier this month.
Premadasa called for an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the incident and urged that the findings be reported to Parliament without delay.
He noted that, despite the severity of the allegations, the school’s principal and teaching staff had failed to take any action. The victims, he said, had not been referred for medical examination, and no disciplinary or legal measures had been taken against either the security agency or the alleged perpetrator.
Premadasa further revealed that two teachers who attempted to report the incident to him had been threatened and intimidated by the principal. He added that a public protest had been organised outside the school to demand justice for the victims.
The Opposition Leader urged the Government to launch a formal inquiry, ensure the protection of the affected children, and take appropriate action without yielding to external influence or pressure.
