Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa stated that some of those who have lodged complaints against him own more property than he does.
Speaking to the media at the headquarters of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Rajapaksa questioned whether Trade and Commerce Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe, who often speaks on behalf of the working class, had acquired his wealth within the past year or during what is referred to as the “76-year curse.”
He further noted that since 2010, as well as during the last presidential election, he has openly declared his assets to the public. Rajapaksa added that he has never taken money from villagers to buy bananas or fuel for his vehicle.
