The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has reaffirmed its decision to proceed with tomorrow’s token strike, dismissing social media reports claiming that the island-wide strike had been called off.
GMOA Media Spokesperson Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe stated that the association is ready to hold discussions with Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa at any time if an invitation is extended. However, in the absence of such an invitation, there will be no change in the scheduled strike.
Meanwhile, the association strongly condemned the use of state media by a Coordinating Secretary of the Ministry of Health, accusing him of attempting to sabotage the strike.
