A special search operation was conducted today (May 3) at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake, following intelligence reports that six suspects involved in the recent terrorist attack in the Pahalgam tourist area of Kashmir were planning to enter Sri Lanka through the airport.
According to police sources, the intelligence indicated that the suspects had arrived in Sri Lanka on flight UL 122 from Chennai, which landed at BIA around 11:59 a.m. on Saturday.
The information was reportedly provided by Indian authorities, prompting a coordinated search operation involving the Sri Lanka Police, the Sri Lanka Air Force, and airport security personnel.
However, airport authorities confirmed that the aircraft was thoroughly inspected and no suspicious individuals were found among the passengers.
