The Fort Magistrate’s Court has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take into custody a suspicious vehicle in the possession of former Member of Parliament Sujeewa Senasinghe and present it before the court.
This order was issued after the CID presented its investigation report regarding the vehicle to the Fort Magistrate’s Court today (11).
Recently, the Walana Anti-Corruption Unit received information suggesting that Mr. Senasinghe’s Toyota Land Cruiser V8 had been illegally assembled. This prompted an inspection of a relevant location.
During questioning, an employee from Mr. Senasinghe’s residence revealed that a luxury vehicle was kept at his home in Kollupitiya. The investigating officers testified in court that after this information was provided, they went to the residence with two representatives from the Motor Transport Department to inspect the vehicle.
The officers disclosed to the court that the vehicle was imported to Sri Lanka in 2010 but was only registered in 2022.
