Police sources have told Lankadeepa Newspaper that the son of a popular teledrama actor, with alleged connections to the underworld, is suspected to be behind the recent shooting incident at the Lotus Tower last Saturday.
The investigation revealed that the shooting, which injured a security guard during a party at the Lotus Tower, was connected to a love affair involving an underworld figure. According to *Lankadeepa*, this individual, reportedly involved in drug trafficking and organized crime, is the son of the actor.
The underworld figure had been romantically involved with a young woman working at a spa. Later, she also began a relationship with another young man from Angoda, who was employed as a security guard at the Lotus Tower. After learning that his relationship with the woman had ended, the underworld figure reportedly became enraged.
A few days before the incident, he allegedly called the security guard from overseas, issuing threats. During the party at Lotus Tower, the shooter approached the guard, shot him in the face, and fled. The suspect has not been identified yet, but police are analyzing CCTV footage to track him. They believe the shooting may have been carried out on contract by the underworld-connected son of the actor.
The victim, who sustained serious injuries, is currently receiving critical treatment at the National Hospital. Police report he was shot in the mouth. The Colombo Crimes Division is continuing its investigation into the incident.
