The medical community has expressed their concern over Dr. Niroshan Seneviratne, a surgeon at Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital, who was scandalized for taking out both kidneys of a patient and going on a strike without transplanting a kidney to that patient is conducting an international oration on Kidney transplants.
He has been invited to the SAARC oration organized by the SAARC Surgical Care Society in collaboration with the College of Surgeons Sri Lanka which is taking place at a Kandy Hotel. Dr Senevirathne was to have his oration under a theme related to Enhancing Renal Donor Pool.

This surgeon has been interdicted from work recently due to the surgery strike and the Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital conducted an investigation and submitted the relevant report to the Ministry of Health.
Due to an internal problem in the hospital, the surgeon has boycotted all kidney-related surgeries in the operating room. In this situation, this surgeon has removed both kidneys of a female patient pledging a transplant will be carried out soon. However, in the meantime surgeon has boycotted surgeries leaving that patient to live depending on Kidney dialysis over six months. While there is a suitable donor who is the sister of the patient she had to undergo blood dialysis 66 times and had to live without both kidneys for about six months.
The patient also filed a complaint to the hospital administration in this regard.
