The National Police Commission has appointed the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Central Province, Lalith Pathinayake, as the acting head of the Police Administration Division. This decision was made during a meeting held today (01), where the commission engaged in a long discussion about the current situation within the police force.
Pathinayake will serve in this role until the return of SDIG Nilantha Jayawardena, who is currently on compulsory leave. Lalith Pathinayake is currently the most senior officer in the Sri Lanka Police.
