Sri Lanka and the Official Creditor Committee have reached a final agreement on debt restructuring in conjunction with the 2024 Paris Club held in Paris, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe said.
The minister also said that in the meanwhile Sri Lanka also in the process of signing bilateral loan agreements between Sri Lanka and the Export-Import Bank of China.
Minister Semasinghe expressed his gratitude to the Chairmen of the Committee of Official Creditors, France, India and Japan, as well as the Export-Import Bank of China, who led the process, as well as the members of the Committee of Official Creditors for their unwavering support On behalf of Sri Lanka.
The minister added that the commitment of the committee secretariat to find a solution to the debt crisis and to achieve this important milestone will increase confidence and lead to growth in the country’s economy. The minister further stated that the unwavering commitment and leadership of President Ranil Wickremesinghe helped to steer the Sri Lankan economy towards this milestone.
