Slain Sri Lankan family in Ottawa bids adieu on Sunday

A public funeral will take place for a slain Sri Lankan family in Ottawa Canada tomorrow, Sunday. The final rites will be served at 1 pm Ottawa time at the Infinity Convention Center on Gibford Drive, Ottawa.
The victims were 35-year-old Darshani Dilanthika Ekanayake, the wife of Dhanushka Wickramasinghe killed along with her four young children — daughters Kelly, who was two months old; Ranaya, 3; and Ashwini, 4 — and son Inuka, 7.

The body of,40-year-old Gamini Amarakoon, who was also living with them also found at the scene.

The Buddhist Congress of Canada (BCC) and an organizing committee of volunteers announced the funeral in a news release Thursday.

Meanwhile, BCC revealed that the father of the family, Dhanushka Wickramasinghe, the living victim who is suffering the direct consequences of this horrific tragedy, is recovering physically but is in a serious mental breakdown.

Canadian Buddhist Congress director Narada Kodituwakku told the media that he needs psychological support to overcome the events of last week and the death of his family has left him in a serious shock and he is not in a good mental condition.

BCC says that Dhanushka Wickramasinghe did not make any statement to the media on this occasion and he expressed his thanks on behalf of everyone who was with him.
Dhanushka, An entrepreneur in Ottawa who runs a cleaning business still receives treatments. His father and brother have visited him and assisting him, a close relative of the family said.
