Sri Lanka Cricket Announces Squad for Under-19 Asia Cup

Sri Lanka Cricket has revealed the 15-member squad for the upcoming Under-19 Asia Cup scheduled to take place in Dubai from December 8 to 17. Sineth Jayawardena from Royal College, Colombo, is appointed as the captain, while the vice-captain is Malsha Tharupathy from Richmond College.

The squad comprises the following players:

1. Sineth Jayawardene (Captain, Royal)
2. Malsha Tharupathi (Vice-Captain, Richmond)
3. Pulindu Perera (Dharmaraja)
4. Vishen Halambage (St. Peter’s)
5. Ravishan Netsara (P.D.S. Kularathne M. V. Ambalangoda)
6. Sarujan Shanmuganathan (St. Benedict’s)
7. Dinura Kalupahana (Mahinda Galle)
8. Vihas Thewmika (Thurston)
9. Vishwa Lahiru (Sri Sumangala Panadura)
10. Garuka Samke (Lyceum International College, Wattala)
11. Ruvishan Perera (Ananda)
12. Rusandha Gamage (St. Peter’s)
13. Hirun Kapurubandara (St. Joseph’s)
14. Dinuka Thennakone (Trinity)
15. Duvindu Ranatunga (Mahanama)

The coaching staff includes head coach Jehan Mubarak, assistant coach Sampath Perera, fastball coach Chamila Gamage, spinning coach Sachith Pathiranam, and fielding coach Gayan Wijekoon. Jayantha Seneviratne, a former Sri Lankan player, serves as the team manager.

The tournament will feature eight teams, and the matches will be divided into two groups. The defending champions, India, will face Afghanistan in the opening match, while Sri Lanka, the runners-up, will play against Japan, which marks Japan’s debut in international cricket.
