A 43-year-old man, suspected to have assisted in a shooting incident involving a T-56-type weapon at a residence on Kandana Pio Mawatha on August 4, and a 32-year-old woman, who allegedly concealed weapons and participated in the crime with the individuals responsible for the shooting, have been apprehended. They have been handed over to the Kandana Police Station for further investigation.

The woman hails from the Udugampala Watumulla area within the Gampaha police jurisdiction. The 43-year-old man is registered in the Kandana Police Domain under Lansiahena, Dompe.

Law enforcement discovered 56 live rounds of 7.62X39mm ammunition and one live round of 7.62X54mm ammunition in possession of the 43-year-old suspect.

Kandana Police are actively conducting additional inquiries into the incident.

It’s noteworthy that the perpetrator involved in the shooting was fatally shot a few weeks prior during a confrontation with the police. The incident appears to be linked to a ransom demand made by an underworld criminal currently residing in Dubai, who operates an extortion network within the country.
