President Ranil Wickramasinghe embarked on an early departure from the country today (13) for an official visit to Cuba and the United States. During his absence, the responsibilities of the ministries under his purview have been temporarily assigned to the respective state ministers.
State Minister Pramita Bandara Tennakoon has been designated as the Acting Defense Minister, while State Minister Mr. Ranjith Siambalapitiya will assume the role of Acting Finance Minister. State Minister Mr. Kanaka Herath will act as the Acting Minister of Technology and Investment Promotion, and State Minister Anupa Pascual will serve as the Acting Minister of Women, Child Affairs, and Social Empowerment.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s official visit to Cuba includes an address at the “G77 and China” Heads of State Summit. Following this, he will proceed to the United States to participate in the 78th United Nations General Assembly.
