The director of Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital, Dr. G. Wijesooriya, has assured the public that there is no strike in the hospital’s outpatient department and that all operations are proceeding as usual. Dr. G. Wijesooriya made this statement in response to recent media reports suggesting possible strikes among doctors in the hospital’s outpatient department.

While acknowledging the existence of media reports about alleged strikes by doctors in the outpatient department, the director clarified that no official information regarding such strikes has been brought to his attention.

In light of the situation, the Director General of Health Services has taken action to investigate the matter thoroughly. The Ministry of Health conducted an inspection, and the inspection report is expected to be released within the week. The primary aim of this investigation is to address concerns related to the non-reporting of senior doctors in a specific ward, which has been attributed to the aggressive actions of a specialist doctor from Ward 8. The hospital’s management has cooperated fully with the authorities during this process.

Dr. G. emphasized that despite the speculations and reports in the media, the children receiving treatment in the hospital’s outpatient department have not faced any hindrance in their medical care. The clinical work has been conducted seamlessly, ensuring that the patients’ needs are being met with utmost care and professionalism.
