Veteran actor Gnananga Gunawardena passes away

Gnananga Gunawardena, a popular veteran film and television actor, passed away today (04).

Gunawardana was 78 years old when he passed away after being seriously ill and he was receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of the Colombo National Hospital.

Gnananga Gunawardena made his debut in Sinhala cinema from Parakrama De Silva’s movie “Sevaneli Eda Minissu” and have acted in over a thousand teledramas and over 100 films. His performances in films like “Sapta Kanya”, “Kulageya” and “Seilama” caught everyone’s attention in cinema.

Some other films in which he acted were “Hita Good Woman”, “Taranaya”, “Marutya”, “Last Night”, “Mandakini”, “Satya Devi” and “Kinihiriya Mal”.

His acting memories are filled with popular TV dramas like “Chaturya”, “Tatthu Geval”, “Nethrangali”, “Sihina Danavva” and “Sihina Puraya”.
His remains will lie at Jayarathna Funeral Parlor, Borella from 8.30 am today (5) and tomorrow (06). The final rites will be held at Borella Cemetery on the 06th Saturday at 3.00 pm.
