During an exchange of words in Parliament this morning between the Minister of Education, Minister Susil Premajayantha used unparliamentary language against MP Rohini Kumari Kaviratne.

The MP has complained to the Speaker.

The MP questioned the minister about the measures taken regarding the arrest of two teachers who were working on the teacher transfer scheme in the Ministry of Education by a few drunken police officers and was not satisfied with the answer given by the minister.

The Minister has apparently used disparaging Sinhala words to condemn the MP.

” Mala hu…….. kne this woman”, he said. His words could be heard on the live broadcast of Parliament today.

Schoolchildren were also present in the public gallery when the minister addressed the assembly.

At the time of this incident, the Speaker was presiding, and she complained that the Minister of Education had verbally abused the MP on two occasions.
