Sepal Amerasinghe was discharged after making a public apology over his remarks on the sacred tooth relic.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis today ordered the release of popular Sri Lankan YouTuber Sepal Amarasinghe from the case filed over remarks he made through a Youtube Channel that was considered disrespectful of the sacred tooth relic..
Sepal Amarasinghe was held in remand custody for allegedly making disrespectful comments about the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Senior Deputy Solicitor General Deelipa Peiris, appearing for the Attorney General, informed the court that Senior Counsel Darshana Kuruppu had made a lengthy representation stating that his client wishes to tender an apology to the virtual complaints. Having considered this representation, the Attorney General decided not to proceed with the case against Sepal Amarasinghe.
Amerasinghe also made an apology in the open court to Ven, Anguruwelle Jinananda Thero who made the complaint. The venerable thero was physically present in the court.
Sepal Amarasinghe delivered a public apology not to repeat such offences.
