Sri Lanka wins by 187 runs in first Test against West Indies!

Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 187 runs in the first Test match played at the West Indies today. Chasing a target of 348, the West Indies were bowled out for 160.

By the end of the day, the West Indies had scored 52 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. All were hoping that the West Indies would be bowled out for less than 100 runs in the second innings. But Nkruma Bonner and Joshua de Silva, who played a combative innings for the 7th wicket, put on 100 runs for the seventh wicket in 45 overs. Joshua scored a half-century with 129 balls . However after 5 hours Joshua was the first to be out today.

Rakim Cornwall, who came on after his dismissal, also struggled to stay on the field. But he was out for 13 runs.

Lasith Imbuldeniya then took the last two wickets of Jomel Warrick and Shannon Gabriel.

Lasith Ambuldeniya again took 05 wickets in a Test innings. He took 5 wickets for 45 runs. This is the fourth time Lasith has taken five wickets in a Test innings. Ramesh Mendis took 04 wickets for 64 runs.

Nkruma Bonner scored an unbeaten 68 for the West Indies in the second innings.

Sri Lanka scored 386 in the first innings. Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne scored a superb 147 for Sri Lanka. Pathum Nissanka scored 56 runs, Dhananjaya de Silva 61 runs and Dinesh Chandimala 45 runs.

In the first innings, Roston Chess took five wickets for 83 runs. Shannon Gabriel took 02 wickets and Jomel Warrick took 03 wickets.

In reply, West Indies were all out for 230 in the first innings. In the first innings, Praveen Jayawickrema took four wickets for 40 runs.

Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka was unbeaten on 156 in the second innings. He was out for 3 runs. Oshadha Fernando who came on the field after the first wicket was also dismissed for 14 runs.

Then Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews put on a superb 123-run stand. Dimuth Karunaratne was dismissed for 83 runs. Mathews scored 69 not out.

Dhananjaya Silva was dismissed for one in the fourth wicket as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 191. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 347 in the first innings.

West Indies set a target of 348 runs. The West Indies were all out for 160 in reply to 348.
