Cricket Advisory Committee chaired by Roshan Mahanama to be appointed

Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa has decided to appoint a full-fledged cricket advisory committee headed by former Test cricket captain Roshan Mahanama.

When the proposal was initially made to veteran cricketer Roshan Mahanama he had refused pointing out that according to the cricket constitution, a cricket advisory committee has been in operation for some time but nothing has happened for the upliftment of the sport.

However, this time the Cricket Advisory Committee has been set up with the full authority of the Minister of Sports. Accordingly, Roshan Mahanama has agreed to assume duties as the Chairman of the new Cricket Advisory Committee after further clarification was made of its functions.

It is reported that the other members of the committee will be the Chairman of the National Sports Council Mahela Jayawardena and its member Kumar Sangakkara.

In addition, reliable sources confirm that Muttiah Muralitharan, Aravinda de Silva and Ranjith Fernando will also be appointed as members of the committee.
