,Wmal Weerawansa, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Athuraliye Rathana Thero, who are representing independent group have participated in the special ceremony organized by the Chinese Embassy to welcome the controversial Chinese ship Yuan wang 5 in Hambantota port today
The high tech vessel with capacapabilities of observing ssatellites arrived this morning to Hambantota and the parlimentrians were present at the welcoming ceremony . Wimal Weerawansa was the main politician who pressured that the ship should be allowed to visit Hambantota when Indian objections arose regarding the arrival of this ship.
India had conveyed its concern to Sri Lanka at the diplomatic level regarding the arrival of this ship at the Hambantota port claiming as a serious threat to India’s security.
However, it was reported that the Chinese Embassy hastily organized a ceremony to celebrate the arrival of the Yuan Van 05 ship in Hambantota after the Indian Embassy organized a ceremony to present the Indian Donier maritime surveillance aircraft.
Although the arrival of a ship at a port is not an occasion to be celebrated, it is reported that the Chinese embassy took this step because of the diplomatic fallout related to this ship.
