UGC suspends eight university students for life over ragging

The university grants commission (UGC) has taken steps to terminate the studentships of eight students accused of ragging in local universities. The eight students are said to be from the University of Jaffna and the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka.

The UGC had taken the tough stance after it was reported that Seniors of the Universities had forced new students to strip and also forcefully detained them within university premises.
