Prof. Arjuna De Silva of the Sri Lanka Cricket Management Committee says that it costs a lot of money to send cricketers to a tournament under the Biosafety Bubble and that the Sri Lanka Cricket has spent 69 million to send Sri Lankan cricket team to the England tournament
Prof. Arjuna De Silva said that such a bio-safety bubble was created not only for the safety of the athletes but also for the safety of the people in each country and that the breaking of the bio-safety bubble in England by the three cricketers involved in the controversial incident was a serious breach of discipline.
He stressed that strict disciplinary action should be taken against them.
He added that if the player who broke the biosafety bubble entered a certain place, the people they associated with would also be in danger and this could be a serious situation that could lead to problems between countries.
He said that Sri Lanka was on the red list of England in the Covid situation and no one from Sri Lanka would be brought there.
Sri Lanka Cricket vice-captain Kusal Mendis, opener Danushka Goonetileke and Wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella had violated bio-bubble restrictions and disciplinary rules during a tour of England.
The three players have been quarantined for 14 days after arriving at the Katunayake International Airport this afternoon (29).
