STF rescues University student lost while hiking in Arangala

Fourth-year student of Peradeniya University who climbed the 700-meter high Arangala mountain in Matale alone but got lost has been rescued by the Police Special Task Force (STF) yesterday. He was rescued after going missing for three days from when he set out to climb the mountain. 

The student had travelled to Arangala on February 4. However, a rescue operation was launched after his parents complained to the Peradeniya Police claiming that their son had gone missing after going on a hike alone to Arangala. A resident in the area had informed the Police that she saw a youth with a large rucksack hiking in the area. He has been admitted to the hospital for further treatment.
