It has been decided to close all schools in the Kalmunai Education Zone for a week. This was confirmed by the Governor of the Eastern Province Anuradha Yahampath.
She further said that this decision was taken due to the identification of Covid patients during random PCR tests conducted in the area.

During the random PCR tests 20 Covid patients were found in Akkaraipattu and one in Saindamardu.
