The letter states that the information should be made available before the International Justice Day which falls on July 17 and also requests that steps be taken to hold a parliamentary debate on the matter.

Raghavan said that although various governments had expressed various views regarding the release of political prisoners, no justice had been done to the political prisoners or their families so far.

The letter sent to the Minister of Justice states that during the war, the security forces have arrested a number of persons from time to time for various reasons and have held them in prisons for a long time without trial.
