PUCSL warns of existing power cuts will be  continued further!

Due to issues in generating hydropower and purchasing coal for Lakwijaya coal plant in Norochcholai existing power cut hours may last over December festive season, , the Chairman of the Public Utility Commission of Sri Lanka  Janaka Ratnayake said.   He further added that power cuts will have to be imposed until the issues are resolved.

Recently Engineers union of Ceylon Electricity Board pointed out that there are 38 more coal shipments to be reached by the mid of April 2023. However there are only 20 shipments with the previous tender will be arrived but rest of the 18 have to be called for tender. Due to some issues in two previous occasions two tenders have been revoked.

However, PUCSL approved power cuts of 2 hours and 20 minutes on 1st & 2nd December as follows;

1-hour during daytime
1-hour 20-minutes during the night
