The price of a kilo of wheat flour has increased by 10 rupees and the price of a kilo of sugar has increased by 25 rupees, said the Association of Essential Food Importers.
The association states that this price increase is due to the increase in the price of one metric ton of sugar in the world market from 500 to 750 dollars.

In January 2020, the customs import duty on a kilo of flour was reduced from 15-16 rupees to 3 rupees.
