President and Wijedasa agree to present the 21st amendment to the Cabinet

All the ambiguities and intricacies in the 21st amendment were ironed out after a discussion, Minister Wijedsasa Rajapaksa had with the President.

Rajapkshe said the amendment will go before the Cabinet on Monday and then to Parliament for approval.

During a meeting between party leaders and activists of the SLPP, several technical issues were also addressed, enabling the drafters to redraft several questionable provisions.

It will enable the government to introduce the 21st amendment without a referendum. The Minister pointed out.

The draft 21st amendment came up before the Cabinet on four occasions, and on all these occasions, the Cabinet declined to approve the same.
