Even after being elected as the successor to President Rajapaksa in Parliament, Wickremesinghe addressed the House and said that he would invite all political parties to join in forming an all-party government.

The 22nd Constitutional Amendment will come up before Parliament tomorrow (27th) for the first reading.

According to parliamentary standing orders, the twenty-second constitutional amendment can be debated one week after the first reading (if not challenged before the Supreme Court).

Parliamentary sources say the bill is now in the Parliamentary order paper.

After the cabinet approved the twenty-second constitutional amendment, the government gazette of June 24 published the same for the public to peruse.
