Secretary of the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Products and Regulation, Dr Saman Ratnayake, said that the prednisolone eye drops brought to the country under the Indian credit line will be completely removed from use, and it is not possible to make any statement about this until the laboratory tests are completed.
This liquid was temporarily withdrawn from use due to the complications experienced by several patients who underwent eye surgery using it.
It is reported that, due to the removal of this drug, all the normal surgeries at the eye hospital have been suspended.
