The National Audit Office is keen to verify the whereabouts of over 55 vehicles registered under the President’s office

Over 55 vehicles that were registered in the Motor Traffic Department under the name of the President’s Office are physically not in that office, and no formal inspection has been conducted into the missing vehicles, says the National Audit Office in their audit report under the heading “President’s Budget for the Year 2021.”

Also, the audit has revealed that the physical presence of these vehicles has not been verified.

It has also been revealed that sufficient evidence was not submitted to the audit office to confirm that a formal inspection was done in relation to those vehicles that were not in the office.

The audit report also states that 45 vehicles were registered under other personal names under the addresses of the Presidential Office, Presidential Mansions, and Presidential Security Divisions.

The Audit Office also points out that information about the reasons for registering vehicles under other personal names or using those addresses under the President’s Office was not submitted to the audit.

The audit has recommended that a formal system should be introduced and supervised regarding the use of vehicles in the President’s Office.
