Oman state company interests in Air Force Headquarters land

An Omani Government-linked investment firm has expressed initial interest in acquiring property at the Colombo Air Force Headquarters and launching a development project, The Sunday Times reported, citing government sources. The investment company has also been interested to start a project on Chalmer’s Granary Land owned by the Urban Development Authority the report said.
The Oman Company has already signed a non-binding agreement with the Urban Development Authority, expressing its willingness to send a team to take a proper interest in the mixed development projects on the Chalmers granary property.

The Urban Development Authority has already leased most of its land to investors for 30 to 99 years and is actively seeking investment. A group of Qatari investors have shown interest in the Beira Lake area on DR Wijewardena Mawatha, officials of the Urban Development Authority said.

The government has already drawn up a master plan for Colombo, which aims to allocate heritage, transport hub, financial city and commercial city.
