Nearly 10000 tourist arrivals since January 21st

Since the reopening of the country on January 21, nearly 10,000 tourists have visited the island, according to the Tourism Promotion Authority.

9629 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka from Kazakhstan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Russia, India, China, Switzerland and Canada during that time The Authority said.

According to the release, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga is confident that many countries will reopen as the global Covid situation comes under control and the number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka will increase at the same time.

With the reopening of the country closed to tourists due to the global Covid pandemic, the Embassies have commenced discussions with its associates on attracting new airlines and increasing the number of existing airlines.

Negotiations are underway to provide quarantine relief to tourists who have received both doses of Covid vaccines and steps will be taken to relax the quarantine rules for Sri Lankans visiting Sri Lanka.
