N-joy coconut oil removed from the market

The Consumer Affairs Authority has decided to remove all coconut oil in the market under the N-joy brand. This is due to the presence of carcinogenic substance Aflatoxin in coconut oil.

The fact was proved after samples tested by the University of Peradeniya. Further tests carried in Sri Lanka Institute of Industrial Technology (ITI) have also confirmed that the coconut oil contains Aflatoxin.

The Consumer Affairs Authority states that this coconut oil is made from local copra, but it does contain carcinogenic aflatoxin. Coconut Oil Warehouse at GrandPass owned by tAdamjee & Lukmanjee, which currently holds the company’s stock of the brand, is also sealed.
