More SLPP members to take up ministerial responsibilities

The Cabinet is likely to be expanded further, with six more members of the SLPP being earmarked to be appointed as ministers.

SLPP sources said that an agreement has been reached between the President and the SLPP to appoint a total of nine parliamentarians as ministers.

The plan, however, is to appoint them on a staggered basis.

Additionally, six former senior ministers of the SLPP, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party’s Duminda Dissanayake, Samagi Jana Balavegaya MP Rajitha Senaratne, and the United National Party’s Vajira Abeywardena, have also been tipped to be appointed ministers. Several existing cabinet ministers will be removed, in the process, the sources further stated.
