Modi steers clear in the face of the claim by Stalin for Kachchativu

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K Stalin has urged the centre to annex Kachchativu once again and pointed out that this is the most opportune moment for such a claim.

The Chief Minister made this request to Prime Minister Modi when the PM was in Tamil Nadu yesterday attending the inauguration of several projects in the area.

The fisherfolk in Tamil Nadu had made repeated claims for Kachchativu Tamil Nadu Chief Minister reiterated, reports said.

The Kachchativu Island, located in the Palk Straits, came under the maritime boundary agreement between India and Sri Lanka in 1976.

However, Prime Minister Modi has not responded to Stalin’s request, Foreign Media said.

Media reports said India was extending its helping hand to Sri Lanka to strengthen democracy and achieve economic stability, given the predicament faced by that country.
