“Lorenzo Son 04” captivated by Somali pirates 6 fishermen rescued

The Sri Lankan Multi-day vessel “Lorenzo Son 04” captivated by Somali pirates along with 6 fishermen was safely rescued by the Seychelles Coast Guard yesterday (29) Fisheries and Director General of Aquatic Resources Department said.

A Department spokesman stated that three pirates were also armed and arrested by the Seychelles Coast Guard officers.

He also said that this fishing vessel, which was rescued safely after a special operation, is being taken to the capital of Victoria, Seychelles.

The Sri Lanka’s Ambassador of Seychelles has also made an official confirmation in this regard and that they are working to bring the group to Sri Lanka as soon as possible.
The owner of the multi-day fishing vessel ‘Lorenzo Son 4’ said that his fishermen’s crew spoke to him yesterday through radio messages. He said that they were safe and that three armed men attacked their vessel, but they did not cause any trouble.

On the 27th, the multi-day fishing vessel ‘Lorenzo Son 4’, in which six fishermen, including three from the same family, embarked on their maiden voyage from Dikowita Harbor was captured by Somali pirates.

The Fisheries Department received information about this abduction at around 11:00 a.m. local time

The joint maritime force made up of 40 countries located in Bahrain had also launched operations to search for the missing vessel.
