Korean Buddhists donate 03 million worth of medical equipment

Donation of a stock of equipment including two high flow oxygen therapy units worth around Rs. 3 million to the Covid Emergency Unit of the Kandy National Hospital was performed yesterday (07) under the patronage of the Most Venerable Chief Prelate Warakagoda Gnanaratana Mahanayake Thero of Asgiriya.

The donation was made by the current President of the Sri Lanka-Korea Buddhist Welfare Association, Sang-Young Geelong, with the patronage and Ven. Joen Woo, Chief Incumbent of Bulguksa Temple, a well-known Korean temple, the President of the Coordinating Jathika Sangha Federation, to the President of the Jathika Sangha Federation, the Coordinator of the Association, Chief Incumbent of Madawala Jinamangalarama Kandy, Ven. Liyanwala Sasanaratana Thero.

The Sasanaratana Thera stated that the aid was received by Sri Lanka after informing the former Chairman of Sri Lanka Korea Buddhist association, Jeong Heon Dae, and the current Chairman, Sang-Young Geong about the plight of the people of Kandy due to the epidemic situation in the background of the Korean Buddhist Welfare Association offering to support the development of the city of Kandy through the 2018 Friendly City Agreement between Kandy, Sri Lanka and the City of Kanju, Korea.

Steps have been taken to modernize the medical staff restroom of the Emergency Treatment Unit of the Kandy National Hospital with that offering.

The donation was made to the Kandy National Hospital by Ven. Muruddeniye Dhammaratana, member of the Committee of the Asgiriya Chapter & Ven. Liyanwala Sasanaratana, in charge of the Badulu Muthiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya, Chief Incumbent of the Sri Lanka-Korea Buddhist Association & Dr Aruna Jayasekara, Director of the Kandy National Hospital and several others also participated in that occasion.
