Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena announced in Parliament that a money fraud racket has been exposed, where individuals misused the Prime Minister’s name to lure youth with promises of jobs. The Prime Minister assured that a thorough investigation would be initiated through the Criminal Investigation Department, and those responsible would be punished to the maximum extent of the law.
The announcement came in response to concerns raised by opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, who highlighted a fraudulent scheme where individuals claimed to be associated with the Prime Minister’s office, deceiving young people by promising employment opportunities in Denmark.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the opposition leader for bringing attention to the issue and clarified that neither he nor any organization associated with him had any involvement in the fraudulent activities. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive investigation and underscored that those found guilty should face appropriate consequences.
