Keisha Schahaff and Ana Mayers have become the first mother-daughter duo to reach the edge of space, traveling on a Virgin Galactic rocket plane.
Mission control exclaimed, “They’re officially astronauts!” as they hit the approximately 85-kilometer mark.
Keisha, from Antigua, won the space journey prize while flying to the UK, where her daughter Ana is studying. Joining them on this momentous voyage was 80-year-old Jon Goodwin, a British former Olympic canoeist who, despite his battle with Parkinson’s, secured his $250,000 space ticket back in 2005.
From the pinnacle of their flight, a captivating view unfolded before them, showcasing the curvature of Earth and the profound darkness of space. After their celestial sojourn, they safely landed in New Mexico, located in the southern United States.
