GMOA Requests To Lock Down Areas Where Covid Patients Are Found

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has called for the complete closure of areas where corona patients are found. The association warns that the virus could spread rapidly to other areas unless it is completely shut down so that it has no contact with outside areas.

Dr. Haritha Aluthge, Editor of the Government Medical Officers’ Association, revealed to Lankasara that although travel restrictions were imposed in some areas where infected people were found in the Gampaha District, there was no complete lockdown.

He said it was important not to allow people to enter or leave the area for at least 14 days, despite restrictions on the movement of people in the area in the past.

However, Dr. Aluthge stated that his association had pointed out this situation at a meeting of the Technical Committee of the Ministry of Health yesterday (14) and that the Minister of Health had stated that a decision would be taken after discussions with the President.
