Gammanpila was not given a speech at energy debate!

Former Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila alleges that he was not given an opportunity for a reply speech at yesterday’s debate on the energy crisis in Parliament.

Mr. Gammanpila has stated in his Twitter account that he had written to the office of the chief government whip , but was not given the opportunity and that he expected justice to be done even by the speaker.

He says in the Twitter that although he had informed the office of the Chief Government Whip in writing on the 7th that he wanted a speech, he could not give such a speech as had been answered by that office.

When Gammanpila has turned on the Chief Government Whip, Minister Johnston Fernando and asked to give him a chance, he replied, “Let’s see,” but again former energy minister was informed that office of chief goverment whip cannot accomodate a time as the agenda was full.

Mr. Gammanpila said that as a Member of Parliament for the Ceylon People’s Front, he had entered Parliament with 136,331 votes and not being given the opportunity to express his views was an impediment to the right of the people to express their views.
