Covid takes the life of the Chief Incumbent of Seruwila temple

The Chief Incumbent of the Seruwila Mangala Rajamaha Viharaya, Ven.Munhene Mettarama has passed away in India due to Covid infection.

The Chief prelate had arrived in India a month ago for a liver surgery and was being treated at a private hospital in India.

While He was preparing for the operation, infected with Covis virus. When inquired about this, the student monks said that even his body could not be taken to Sri Lanka due to the current situation.

After the demise of Ven. Seruwila Saranakitti Thero, Ven. Munhene Mettarama Theo took over the Seruwila Temple. An issue regarding the ownership of the temple had arisen with the filing of a case by Ven. Kotapola Amarakitti Thero questioning its superiority. The case is still pending.
