Chief prelates urge the President to amend the drafted Anti-Terrorism Bill

The chief prelates of the four main Nikayas issued a statement urging the President to amend the drafted Anti-Terrorism Bill.

They point out that according to the definition given about terrorism in this Anti-Terrorism Bill, it is observed how any incident including peaceful demonstrations, and expression of opinions, pointing out the shortcomings of the existing government can be interpreted as an act of terrorism.

They further point out that instead of a democratic government, dealing with such harmful censorship methods can cause serious problems both nationally and internationally about the responsibility and transparency of the government.

The Triinikaika Maha Sangha informs the President that the adverse clauses of this Act should be amended immediately.
