Cheriyapani Ship Service Temporarily Suspended Due to Weather

Indian authorities have made the decision to temporarily halt the “Cheriyapani” ship service that plies the route between Nagapattana in India and Kankasanture in Jaffna due to adverse weather conditions. The suspension of this service will commence from tomorrow (21).

As a result of this decision, the Cheriyapani ferry service will only be operational today (20) this year.

On this final day of service for the season, it is expected that 105 passengers will travel from India to Jaffna, while 78 passengers will make the journey from Kanakasantura to India.

The Cheriyapani ferry service is anticipated to resume its operations in mid-January. The temporary suspension is a precautionary measure in light of the unfavorable weather conditions and the onset of monsoon rains in the region.

Passengers and travelers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly during this period.
