Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has rejected to take office as Minister on Industries and expressed his desire to remain as Education minister in today’s ministerial reshuffle, political sources said. In this backdrop S.B Dissanayake who came to assume the post of Minister of Education, has had to be sworn in as the new Minister of Industries following the removal of Wimal Weerawansa.
The President had nominated the Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena for the post of Minister of Industries. Dinesh Gunawardena was appointed to the Ministry of Education by removing him from the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He has been removed from the post of Minister of Education and summoned to be sworn in as the Minister of Industries this evening.
However, Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has refused to take the oaths and resigned.
He then came with the hope of taking over the ministry of education. B Dissanayake has been sworn in as the new Minister of Industries.
Although it is reported that Dilum Amunugama will be appointed as the Minister of Transport, he has not been sworn in yet.
