Unhappy Ali Sabri thinks of resign from Justice Minister

Ali Sabri, the Minister of Justice, is tipped to be to resigned from his ministry post as he is unhappy with the appointment of Ven.Galagodaaththe Gnansara Thero as the head of Presidential task force of One Country One Law, “Lankadeepa” reports.

It was also mentioned in the political arena that Mr. Sabri was preparing to hand over his resignation letter when the President, who is on a foreign tour, arrived.

Meanwhile, Ali Sabri had recently stated in an interview with the Sunday Times that he was not aware of the appointment of such a task force and that he was unhappy about the appointment of such a task force without consulting him.

It is learned that Justice Minister Ali Sabri has further stated that it does not make sense to set up such forces when there are specific institutions to make laws in the country.

A gazette notification issued by the President states that the task force headed by Ven.

The task force is also tasked with studying the drafts prepared by the Ministry of Justice on the issue of one country, one law and submitting proposals for their suitability and appropriate amendments, if any, and including those proposals in the draft.

Meanwhile, the appointment of Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero to this force has been opposed by a number of other parties.
